Amy asked "How long till you're done editing that story?"

"About five minutes," I replied.

Amy leaned forward and said quietly, "When you finish, go get your car. Meet me at the back door in fifteen minutes." She walked away without another word, never waiting for my response. I knew I would be a damned fool if I wasn't there waiting for her.

I finished editing the story, added a suggested headline and saved the story. I was the City News editor at a Big Ten university student newspaper, and just wrapped up my day's work. Amy was a recent transfer student from USC, and worked in the Campus News section. In the past two weeks we had struck up a frantic sexual relationship, behind the backs of our respective steady partners. I was a bit lovestruck at first, her strawberry blonde hair and her frank attitude about the world - and sex -- intrigued me. But she made it quite clear that I was just a boy-toy for her amusement.

I walked the three blocks to my apartment just off the main campus, and climbed into my ‘73 Monte Carlo. It was a beautiful autumn day in 1980, and I idly wondered what Amy had in mind while I drove to the parking lot of the newspaper.
