It was a Tuesday when Mary stopped over. I was surprised to see her. She knew where I lived but she had never stopped over to my small apartment. Mary and I had met in college and had remained friends. I had found her attractive but never pursued it because she was always dating another guy. Now it was years later. We were both 30. I was divorced. She was married to a highly successful investment banker or something. Something with finance, I never understood what the hell it was. It seems her husband Chris had some medical condition involving a herniated disc that was killing some nerves in his leg and he had surgery. The surgery was not a success. He was in pain and had to have another surgery. I sat next to her on the couch as she started to cry. I tried to comfort her telling her that the next surgery would go better. She looked me in the eye and said, "That isn't the worst. The worst part is that the surgery somehow left him impotent. The doctors say it's a physical thing and he can never have sex again.
