My name is Jason, and I've been married to my wife Jody for the past 12 years. We're a couple in our mid-30s - I 36, and her 35 - with two kids and not a lot of time on our hands. When the time comes to escape and getaway we usually take advantage of it. Every winter we try and take a trip just the two of us, and then one with the whole family during spring break.

Last fall Jody lost her job working as a receptionist. It wasn't a big money-making job, but it did afford us the opportunity do some of things we took for granted. And rather than postpone our family trip, we decided it would be best if we just skipped our trip for the year. The thought of not getting away together stunk, but it had to be done.

Our friends Mike and Carrie were in a similar spot as us with kids and being a bit more strapped than all of us were used to. Our sons' played baseball together during the summer and I coached on the team with Mike. We had gotten to know Mike and Carrie a lot the past three years living in a smaller community. When you couple that with our sons being interested in a lot of the same activities it was natural that we would be around them a lot.

They're a little older than us, but not much. Mike is 39 and turning 40 in just a couple months. He's about 6'3, athletic and keeps himself fit. Carrie is 37 but looks younger. She has shoulder-length brown hair with smooth, tanned skin. I wouldn't classify her as gorgeous, ...
