It’s a blazing hot Sunday afternoon in March and I’m driving across Texas, towards New Orleans. Being born and raised in Colorado I can’t believe how hot 96 degrees actually is.

The plan is to meet some friends in time for the start of Mardi Gras on Tuesday. I suppose that I should have flown from my home in Colorado, but my husband had thought it would be fun and romantic to drive out.
