I should tell you upfront who I am and why I'm here in Spencerton. Four years ago I was the Editor and chief sport writer for the Junctionland Daily Herald. I had the additional duty of being the sports anchor and reporter on KZAD-TV in Junctionland. I was recruited for my present position by none other than the vile and evil Zachary Adam Dannille, the mogul who controls newspapers, radio and TV stations in many minor markets across the country. He ventured into Junctionland one afternoon from his palace in Chicago, read the paper, watched the news, and called me the next morning raving about the way I had TV presence and charisma. I had heard of ZAD, but hadn't been warned of him until it was way too late to correct my error. Don't get me wrong, I am well paid. No, let me correct that statement. I am heavily overpaid for what I do for 'The ZAD' as he's known by his minions. I won't complain as I'm stuffing my nest with the overpayments until I find better days ahead on a different highway. I am responsible for all sports reporting and that includes two newspapers, local radio, and the television station. What's the problem, you ask? The work schedules we are forced to maintain. That's the crux of the matter. My two assistants, Jenks Anders and Bobbie Melendez, and I are on duty everyday for six weeks at a clip. Then, and only then, do we get a ten days for ourselves on an alternating basis. Duty? For me it means starting at seven each morning and ending at midnight and that's seven days a week, six weeks running. You see, I have to follow all sports at not only two high ...
