It can come as quite a surprise to realise that even in these 'enlightened times' the female orgasm is still so difficult to achieve. It is estimated that about 10% of adult woman have never had an orgasm, and 20% orgasm very seldom. In her study of American woman, Shere Hite reported that only 30% of woman orgasm during intercourse without 'additional stimulation'!

Why this is, nobody knows. There are hundreds of 'how to do it' books on the market, and men at least, are well provided with information in men's magazines, at least where the clitoris is, and your average male will have pored over dozens of them by the time he reaches adulthood, even so it's doubtful if they are giving their readers enough useful information on how to please a woman. The attitude seems to be that a real woman will be ready to come at the first sight of you noble organ, and a couple of firm thrusts will clinch it. If it doesn't - it's her problem.

Women encounter even less useful information about their bodies while they're growing up, and if she never learns how to bring herself off, or only encounters the sort of man who thinks sex is grubby, or knows what to do but can't be bothered, she can walk around for years without experiencing the Big O. This obviously excludes those very few women who are incapable, for one reason or another, of having an orgasm we're talking about those that could, but never had.
