I spend a lot of time driving across the country in my job as a national sales manager. Most of the time it is very boring and I cant wait to get back home, however this trip turned out to be one I wont soon forget.

I had just finished my meeting with a customer on the east coast and was heading back home to Chicago. This particular trip, I didn't fly, and wound up driving in the middle of a huge snowstorm. This was definitely not what I had planned on doing on Friday night.

The snow started out slowly, and kept getting worse. I kept saying I could get thru this, and I would be home before I knew it. Little did I know that it was getting worse by the minute. After a few hours of going 15 miles an hour on the worst roads I have ever driven, I decided that I better get off the road before I ended up in a ditch.

I looked for a hotel sign on the interstate, and made my way up the off ramp. A mile down the road was a hotel with a pool and a vacancy sign. Good enough. I pulled in and was quite relieved to be off the road.

I was a bit stressed after watching numerous cars sliding into the ditch and hoping I wouldn't join them. I checked in at the front desk and asked the girl behind the counter if the bar and restaurant was still open. She told it was and pointed my way to the room as she handed me ...
