About a year ago I got a job working for a big accounting firm. It came with reasonable pay and very flexible hours, which also gave me the option of working from home. I was very happy to have landed the job because money was very tight as my husband and I tried to raise a family. I had worked in the office for almost a year and I knew that promotions were coming up. I didn't know if I was up for a promotion or not but I was going to do my best to try and earn one because we really needed the money. Knowing that the higher-ups wanted people to step up, I decided to toss my name in the circle and offer to go on the trips. I knew it would be a big deal because I would have to leave my family for a few days at a time, but in the end if I managed to secure a promotion, the money would help us out immensely. I stopped by my supervisor's office one afternoon and told him that if they needed someone to go on the trips, I would be willing and available.
