I had been retired for two years when I discovered that it was not all it was cracked up to be. Sure, like everyone else I had dreamed of it for years, and the first year was great . . . sleeping in when I wanted to, doing whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. But, believe it or not, I eventually got rested, and not much later got bored. I didn't know what to do with myself, and I felt like my brain was turning to mush. I decided to get a part time job. It would give me something to do, and the extra money would allow my wife and I to travel to see our sons and our grandchildren, who were scattered throughout the States.

It was so strange going to work the first day. I had not worked an entry-level job in over forty years. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, but also seem so young to me. The other tellers were in their early twenties and mostly enrolled in college courses, much like I had been 40 years earlier. The teller supervisor, my boss, was a young woman of 30, the financial advisors were men in their early thirties, and even the branch manager was an attractive woman, barely forty.
