The Assassin - Part 9 The Bahamas

In the Bahamas they stayed at an old mansion that had been converted into a hotel on Hill Street in Nassau. Their room was on par with the sumptuous surroundings in soothing colors of shell pink, sand, and green. They had a king-size bed and access to the balcony overlooking the port and the town.

On their first day, they ventured through the town on foot and by taxi. They sat outside of Goldie's Conch House nibbling on conch salad and conch fritters while watching tourists from the numerous cruise ships in the harbor.

They visited the National Art Museum of the Bahamas housed in a mansion built in the 1860s where they enjoyed the vibrant local artwork and beautiful candid black and white photographs of Bahamian life on display. Afterwards they ate at a nearby restaurant where they had lobster with pigeon peas and rice and fried plantain.

The next day they stopped in one of the many marketplaces. Ilya had to smile because Kennis was like a child in a candy store. She marveled at the wildly colorful artwork. She bought a variety of souvenirs including a large straw tote bag, a turtle carved from a conch shell, a wooden sculpture of fish and a couple of beautiful conch shells.
