Rachel's secret assignation:

Rachel from Scarborough is a bored, middle-aged housewife. Likewise, Clair, her friend and neighbour. They both answer a contact ad from two young company directors for ‘mutual daytime fun'. Then Clair gets cold feet, and Rachel is left to face the men alone. Will they still want her without her pal? Is it going to be a double-screw?

My confession begins, I suppose from the time I met Clair. I met her at the cinema where I spent some of my afternoons and we became friends through discovering our mutual boredom. We are both housewives. I am in my forties, while Clair is younger. We started meeting in the afternoons for coffee, comparing notes about our dreary lives and husbands, and it turned out that her husband was even less active and imaginative in bed than mine. Unlike me though, who had never been with another man, Clair had once, a long time ago, had a brief affair and I listened enthralled and possibly a bit shocked when she told me the things she used to do with her lover.

It was Clair that suggested that we should meet a couple of men in the afternoons for sex fun with no strings. Well, I was dubious at first ...
