Chapter 5: Lac Noir

Tallia looked for a place to eat and kill some time before she could check into her hotel room. She found a jazz bar called Dylan's that also served soul food and decided to try it.

It was housed in an old Victorian building that might have once been home to two stores but the bar now took up both spaces. Large windows with fancy fretwork flanked both sides of the front door.

The windows were shuttered on the inside with the shutters closed halfway making the wood paneled interior look like a dark cave. Tables were scattered throughout the bar surrounded by comfortably upholstered oval backed chairs. Here and there, upholstered settees and armchairs were arranged around a table. Old fashioned pendant lights hung above the tables and the floor was dark wood planks. Overhead a pressed tin ceiling was painted off-white. An antique dark mahogany bar stretched along one wall with a matching back bar filled with hundreds of liquor bottles. On the other end of the building a jazz pianist played "Fly Me to the Moon".

Her immediate thought as she sat at one of the small tables was that Armand would love it. He'd love the music and the atmosphere.
