Jack had not been to his hometown in quite some time. College engineering work and internships had consumed the vast majority of his time. Schoolwork was important to him, and it didn't help that he was less than persuasive with the ladies. On Easter Friday, a couple days after he came home to see his family, he got invited to a silent auction at the country club to support his old high school, the John Gaite Catholic High School.
