"You're lying," Meg said, and of course she was right. Typical pillow talk, all light and harmless on the surface, but fraught with danger if you aren't careful. So she saw right through my ruse, and there was where the danger flashed. But lying about it—that just told her that there was something I was trying to bury. And so she began to dig.
