A PERSONAL MEDICAL NOTE: I wish to renew thanks to those of you who sent me es-mails in response to Hal's note about my appendix problem. You touched me, and I appreciated your concerns. What happened, briefly: I had half a dozen oysters with a seafood dinner at our club. I awoke in the middle of the night with a belly ache. i blamed the oysters. Nope, more and more pain, and a trip to the hospital cost me my appendix, which the surgeon said was on the verge of popping. Out it came.

One chuckle out of all of this. At a check up this week my tummy was still quite sore, and I asked when I could resume such things as tennis and swimming. A couple of weeks, the doctor said. So my loving Hal asks, with a smile, "Well, how about sex?"

The physician, an older chap, seemed taken aback. He shook his head and asked, "Well, just as activive is Miss Kath during intercourse, on a scale of one to ten?"

Hal replies, "Oh, I would 25, maybe even 40 when she gets going!"

The doctor stared at him in seeming disbelief. He smiled. "Well, you guys best find another way to amuse yourselves for another week or so!"
