Labor Day Weekend

Every summer, the guys that I work with go on an annual camping trip. Because of our previously male-dominant work place, the men kept their trips excusive and secretive. This year, to their surprise, a great number of women had been hired. Our outnumbering of the men gave us the momentum to push our way into being invited this particular year. Since there was such an enormous amount of people it was decided that the trip take place for Labor Day weekend. As sort of an end of the summer bash. Spouses and boyfriends and girlfriends were invited also. Since I had broken up with my boyfriend six months ago, to my misfortune, I was going to be the only single one there. No mind. I looked forward to the weekend of fun regardless. I couldn’t wait for the 3 days and 3 nights of fresh air, hiking, partying, and fun. Friday evening, after work, 19 of us loaded our gear into three rented vans and began our 2-hour drive upstate. We arrived at the parking lot of the campground in record time, unloaded our gear, then hiked the 5 miles to the camp. Once we arrived, all tents were erected then a large bonfire was built. The rest of the first night was filled with beer drinking, roasting marshmallows, laughing and joking, and planning the next two days of entertainment. The next morning everyone split up into small groups and went hiking and exploring. My group consisted of Jen and her husband, Craig and his girlfriend, Stan and his wife, and me.
