With the school year finally coming to a close, Kimberly was proud of the fact that she'd been able to learn English so quickly and get accustomed to a new country and different culture. Most importantly, she'd found someone to latch on to with her immediate friendship with Lucy. Having come from Honduras to live in the U.S. with her mother, she didn't have any exposure to her new environment other than her budding friendship with Lucy. It has given her the confidence any new immigrant so desperately needs. Most people didn't think twice about her background or why she has an accent. They accept her as any other high school kid.

Lucy, who also lives as an only child with her mother, lives a very relaxed lifestyle. Her mother being a flight attendant and almost always away during the weekends—especially during the summer time-- meant Lucy could pretty much do whatever she wants. It also meant she'd had the freedom of having ‘night visitors', but until now, the only night visitor she'd had was her long-term girlfriend who'd spent the last year attending her freshman year at an out-of-state university.
