A Trip To The Lake

Things hadn't been great on a physical level between my wife Steph and me for quite a while. We're both in our early 40s and, although we still love each other, somehow we hadn't been making love for a number of months. Work, stress, tiredness, any number of reasons, but I guess you'd say we'd fallen out of the habit. We'd tried to reignite the spark on a few occasions... but nothing had really worked

So although there may have been a faint glimmer of hope when I booked a trip away for us to the lakes, that time off from the day to day would lead to the flame being rekindled, I didn't really believe that much would change. I certainly didn't expect what actually happened to occur.

We drove up on the Sunday to a nice little boutique hotel near one of the lakes. It was early summer, but far from peak time and so we hoped it would be quiet and we would be able to relax. Unfortunately, the Monday was quite rainy, so we didn't do much other than enjoy the hotel's spa facilities. This helped us relax into the break fully, so much so in fact, that once again we simply found ourselves dozing off rather than making a different use of the king-size bed!

Tuesday dawned a much brighter day and so we decided to head out to the closest lake for a walk and a picnic. It was a nice, warm, early ...
