I caught Mel's eye as our dinner guest bent over her lap, rooting around nervously in her handbag in search of her purse. Mel gave a slight nod of her head but her broad smile was the real give away.

"We've got this Hun!" I said magnanimously as the waiter took my proffered credit card and both of our bills.

The three of us left the restaurant a couple of minutes later, my hand wrapped lightly around Tracey's firm bicep to stop her stumbling over her own feet.

"It's a good job your apartment is walking distance", Tracey giggled fetchingly, " I don't think I'm in any condition to drive."
