I was spending the week skiing in Tahoe for my birthday. A big storm had just dumped several feet of snow after what had been a very disappointing winter. I was sitting alone in the village at my second favorite ski resort by one of the fire pits watching as people skated around the ice rink and skiers made their way to the parking lot. It was busy for a Monday afternoon but I wasn't too surprised since it was a powder day. I was sipping on a Dirty Snowman with my feet propped up next to the fire, my legs burning from a day of floating through the trees and burning up the groomers.

The wind had died down and I could finally feel the warmth of the sun beating down on me as a lone skier came over and asked if I was saving the five empty chairs around the fire pit. I told him they were all free and watched as he took off his helmet and shook out his shaggy, sandy-colored hair. He pulled his hoodie off and his shirt tugged up as he did giving me a peak at his perfectly cut stomach. His arms barely fit through the sleeves of his short sleeve tee shirt and I found myself staring shamelessly. He caught me starring and for the first time I got a good look at his piercing blue eyes as he starred back and flashed a smile that could bring any woman to her knees. I smiled back as he turned and walked away without another word. I watched him walk off and then turned to glance back at me before disappearing into the bar.

I leaned back, closed my eyes and let the sun warm my face as dirty ...
