Here is the background - every year, our neighbourhood school has a fundraiser specially for parents. It is hosted in the school and features a silent auction, live auction, we buy tickets, and then of course drinks... lots and lots of drinks! Because we're all children at heart, a few good friends from the neighbourhood, 4-5 couples got together for a pre-drink before heading over to the fundraiser. It was pretty typical, few beers or glasses of wine, at one point a round or two of shots but mostly it was nice for everyone to be without children for a night of adult fun. We all headed out to the party around 10pm and even approaching the school we could tell that the party was well underway. Parents were outside the door being loud and overly friendly as their conversations of slurred words seemed totally incoherent. But, being late to the event, the 4 couples that I was a part of slid into the gymnasium to scope out the scene. The silent auction was set up on one side, the bar on the other, and the DJ was playing a mix of music from 15 years ago! The night progressed and the most notable thing to mention was the amount of drinking and flirting. Both between husbands and wives, but also with each other's husbands and wives. This fundraiser was notorious for people cheating on their spouses, but in recent years it had toned itself down, at least in the couple of years that I had attended with my wife.
