Chapter 7: Oh Micky, You're So Fine

Things had been quiet for nearly a week at the Slasher Task Force headquarters. The task force finally got the results of their forensic investigation of the destroyed serial killer's lair on Horse Lake. There wasn't much there because the house exploded and burned but they did get the suspect's fingerprints off the unscathed mailbox by the road. Arson investigators confirmed it was started intentionally by a fire started beneath the propane tank that was allowed to burn to the point that the moisture inside the tank evaporated and the propane gas exploded. Scavenging through the rubbish revealed a torture chamber of sorts, a small basement room with a sink and toilet and space enough for the fold-away bed frame found outside its walls.

They also found a good picture of the killer at a gas station without his usual baseball cap. Unlike witness accounts his hair was less than an inch long. He hadn't shaved in a few days and had the shadow of dark stubble over the lower half of his face. At the time, he was driving a black 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. Just as importantly, the gas station surveillance camera was from a station in Superior, Wisconsin where they suspected him of hiding.

The forensics determined hairs found at one victim's home were from a wig. From another victim's autopsy, they discovered another male blood type and DNA on the body of his sixth victim. It looked like the killer ...
