Chapter 1: Desi Dixon

This is the story of a major scandal I started in Hollywood and how I escaped as much of the ensuing publicity as possible. It took me across the country where I met a number of wonderful and not-so-wonderful men. I returned home, my home state that is, and then back to my current home in the Hollywood Hills. And sometimes home isn't always your house, sometimes your home is where your heart is.

I should start by introducing myself. My full name is Desiree Deidre Dixon but people call me as Desi and, no, I'm not named after Lucille Ball's husband Desi Arnaz. Fortunately for me most younger people have no idea who he was so it's not a big deal. Thank goodness the nickname I had in high school - Triple D - never caught on.

I grew up in Brookfield a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I was big into theater in high school and then for the two years when I went to college at Alverno. I got the acting bug and moved to Los Angeles to be discovered, discarding my college education much to the chagrin of my parents especially my very temperamental father.

Those first few years in L.A. were bad. I shared apartments with two or three other people, never having a moment's privacy. I worked all kinds of jobs including waitressing, cashiering, and sales. Oftentimes more than one job while I auditioned for parts. Throughout those lean years, ...
