It was a cold spring mid-morning in Springfield, Illinois. Sat in my office, a part drunk latte my only company as I read some more of a free newspaper, I willed the phone to ring so that I could do some work and low and behold it eventually did.

I'd found myself doing that ever since I arrived at 9am, the time now 10.15 or thereabouts. ‘I must get the clock put right,' I mused to myself, having checked it against the accuracy of my watch.

"Hello. Terry Silva's Private Investigations. How may I be of help?" I said in a calm soothing voice.

There was a short silence from the caller, noticing it was a woman who'd answered, then, "My wife. She's missing," he replied, voice full of concern.
