Chapter One

Cookie-cutter dance music endlessly blared from the tall speakers in the front of the large room during the last few hours of the seemingly eternal prom. If I had had to sit through another N’Sync song I was sure to make it their last. It was my senior year of high school, the senior prom, and I was supposed to be having the time of my life. I don’t know about you, but the time of my life can only last so long, and this prom couldn’t exactly be described as the time of anybody’s life by all means. Granted, the first few hours were fun, but I can only take dancing and socializing for so long. If I ever meet the man (or woman) who decided that proms must last for hours on end, I will personally see to their demise.
