A little over a year or so ago, I was presented with an opportunity and decided to jump on it. The local school system, which my son attends, was auctioning off a couple of their old school buses that they no longer used. I looked into it because I had a few ideas in my mind and if the price was right, then I would be interested in one of the buses. I had wanted to make my own RV for the longest time and converting one of the old school buses would be a fun project and I would be able to design the RV the exact way I wanted it, so that's why I was interested in the buses.

I headed down to the Board of Education building on the day of the auction to see what they were getting rid of, and my eyes lit up when I got there. One of the buses that were up for auction had a bit of an emotional connection to me and my family. My son who attends school here in town, is autistic and had been on the school buses during his entire school career. One of the buses that they were auctioning off, just happened to be the first bus he was ever on. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted it.

The auction began, and there weren't many people to bid on the buses so my chances of getting the one I wanted were very good. When they began the bidding, I made my offer and there was no counteroffer. It was that easy, and I was now the new owner of an old beat-up school bus, but I didn't care. Like I said, I had an emotional connection to the bus, and I also wanted to convert and make my own RV so this would be perfect. ...
