After a night in the slave dormitory, Pixie woke from her first uninterrupted sleep in three weeks. The alarm was quiet - She had learned not to sleep through it well before she was done training. She rushed through using the toilet and fresher, pulled on a fresh coverall, and made it to breakfast in plenty of time.

She ate quietly by herself, she hadn't had time to form any friendships before her extended absence. As she brought her tray to the washing station, her collar pulsed and a voice sounded in her ear. "Slave Pixie, report to the supervisor's office."

A minute later, she stood in front of his desk, waiting patiently. She was still waiting patiently 20 minutes later when he glanced up from his desk. "Strip." She shrugged out of the coverall and hesitantly stepped towards the side to go around the desk. The supervisor frowned up at her. "Stay. Turn in place. Again, slower. Reach up. Now out to the sides." He got up and circled her, peering to inspect her at close range, putting her through a range of positions, then sat back down. "Get dressed. Report to dispatch." She realized he hadn't even thought about using her, he was just making sure his property was in functional condition.

For the first time, Pixie had a pouch with multiple packages and a route to follow. The job was easy, almost mindless. Walk quickly, stay out of the way of anyone above her - which meant everybody - and keep a polite ...
