A REUNION TO REMEMBER

When an invitation to my twenty-year high school reunion arrived in the mail, I promptly threw it into the trash with the other junk mail. High school had not been a happy time for me and I did not want to stir up memories that were best forgotten.

But after a few days had passed, I had second thoughts. "Why not go back," I thought. "I'm a successful businesswoman with a successful husband, an affluent life-style, big house and luxury car. I will go back to meet those who called me a dumb blonde behind my back and rub their noses in my success." I had taken good care of myself and was still attractive enough to draw more than my share of whistles. Yes! I would go back!

I was somewhat relieved when my husband declined my invitation to go along. He was in the middle of negotiations in a business deal. My husband is a wonderful man and I love him dearly as a companion, but, frankly, he isn't much to look at. If he had gone along, he would have cramped my style. Once I got used to the idea of attending the reunion, I could hardly wait for the big day to arrive. Before I left, I went to the finest boutique in town and splurged on an original dress. Then I had my hair done in a different style that trimmed at least five years ...
