We'd been seeing each other for about six months when Louise announced that she was going to Las Vegas for a big psychologist conference. "I need a favor, and I want to be honest with you."

I was thinking that Helen needed a favor and I ended up at a wedding. "What do you need?"

"I know you're not travelling this week. Could you stop by maybe every other day, and check on the cats? Make sure they have enough food, empty their litter box? I hope it's not too much to ask. You have a key."

It was easy enough. Louise lived just a few miles from my apartment. I almost had to go by her house on my way home. Was there something else?"
