Chapter 4 – Extortion
Emma woke up in the morning. She reached out to the other side of the bed, but it was empty. Greg had already gotten up.
She got out of bed and walked into the kitchen. She poured some water into a glass and went into the basement, where they had their small gym. Greg was doing some push-ups when she entered.
"Good morning," she said. "Good morning," he replied tersely while continuing his push-ups.
"Are you ok?" Emma asked. "Yes, all good," Greg replied. "What about you?"
"Yes, I am ok. I need to hurry and get dressed. My first meeting is at nine, and I still need to prepare a summary of yesterday’s trade show."
"That will be an interesting summary," Greg said between push-ups.
Emma blushed at that comment when she remembered what had happened the day before, outside of the client meetings.
As Greg made no move to interrupt his workout, Emma said, "Ok, I need to go. Let's talk tonight. Love you, bye." "Yes, bye, love you," Greg replied.
When Emma had left the room, Greg stopped his push-ups and looked after her. His anger about her enjoying being fucked by several strangers had subsided, but had not gone completely. He still needed to come to terms with it. He knew that it was immature not to tell her what he felt, but he decided to talk to her that evening.
Emma left the house shortly afterwards and drove to the office.
At the office, she went to her desk and put together the information for her meeting with her boss, John, to brief him on their sales efforts at the trade show the day before.
At nine o'clock, she went to his office.
"Good morning, Emma," he greeted her. "Good morning, John. I just wanted to give you a summary of yesterday’s trade show."
"Sounds good. So, where are we? How many contracts have we secured?" "We have ten contracts with existing clients and one new client." Emma paused before proudly giving the good news: "ARGON."
"ARGON?" John asked, positively surprised. "Have they already signed?"
"No, not yet. But they agreed to move from their existing software to ours."
"That is great. How did you manage to convince them?"
Emma blushed, thinking about how she had convinced Peter to make a deal with them. "I needed all my negotiation skills," she replied vaguely.
"Well, however you did it, well done. Now make sure that they actually sign the contract", he told her.
"Yes, I will call Peter McOwen right now," Emma said and left for her desk.
Peter answered the call at the second ring. "Hi, it’s Emma at SSI. How are you?" "I am great, thanks. How are you today? How was your evening with hubby? Did you tell him everything you did to make a deal?" he asked with a sleazy smile in his voice.
Emma disregarded his question and went down to business. Talking about the deal. Shall I send over the contract for you to review?" "Yes, you can send it over. And why don’t you come over to our offices this evening to discuss the details?" he asked.
