I certainly wasn’t going to wait around for Mandy.

The following Thursday I stopped at the bar of another hotel. It was crowded and seemed to have the same kind of clientele as the one I met Mandy.

I didn’t have the same kind of luck as with Mandy, not that Thursday or the following week, but just a month after meeting Mandy, in the same hotel bar. I definitely didn’t expect what happened to happen. I was sitting at the bar when the bartender says, “the lady at the end of the bar would like to buy you a drink. Another Dewar’s?”

“Sure.” I looked over to the woman, nodded and we made eye contact. I mouthed ‘thank you.’

If Mandy wasn’t my type, this woman definitely wasn’t. She had grey hair. It was neat; almost as if she’d just left a beauty salon, and her face, even from a distance, appeared to have some wrinkles.

She came over to where I was sitting. I offered her my seat. She was tall and slim. Yes, up close, there were wrinkles on her face and neck. She was wearing a beautiful silk scarf around her neck. It was fashionable, but it couldn’t hide all those wrinkles. “No, thank you, I’ve been sitting in meetings all day. My name is Leeann.”
