WOULDN'T YOU RATHER BE BI?

The Christmas season was over and, just as I do every year, I was packing away the cards my husband Larry and I had received. I'm sure that most people throw them away, but I've never been able to do that. One of the cards fell open and a photo slipped out. It was a beautiful studio portrait from my old friend Robert. It showed a handsome man with a beautiful woman and two smiling children. A tear welled up in my eye as I looked at those beautiful kids. If not for me, they probably would not exist.

It happened long ago when I was struggling to get through college. My husband Larry and I attended the same university in the Midwest. Neither of us had scholarships or help from our parents. It took a lot of hard work, but we both eventually graduated. Along the way, I had some bizarre experiences. If I had not stopped at the School of Medicine bulletin board one day, I would have missed out on one of the most bizarre.

As I scanned the bulletin board in search of an inexpensive used car, an ad caught my eye. It read something like this: "Gay male students and attractive female students needed for research in the field of human sexuality. Volunteers will earn three credits." A phone number followed ...
