Astrid woke up with a start, looking around and trying to remember where she was. She remembered and groaned, lying back on the straw mat, trying not to wake up the two semi-naked people next to her. It wasn't that she didn't want to wake them up, but that she didn't know what she would do when they did.

Astrid was a student on a hockey tour through Europe. She had just turned 18, and was thrilled that her parents had allowed her to go. After a very successful tour, they had been allowed to take a holiday, chartering a yacht round the islands. But, she had been getting a little tired of her somewhat butch hockey companions, and it was a welcome relief when they took their first opportunity as the boot moored at one of the islands to go ashore and explore. One of the three chaperoning teachers accompanied them, leaving Astrid to sun herself, alone on the yacht except Mrs Jones and Mr Roberts, who she knew would not be too interested in her – although everyone seemed oblivious to it, it was obvious to her that these two teachers (actually student teachers at her school), had a relationship going.

But then the yacht had broken loose, leaving herself and her teachers to floating for a number of days. Food and water had been no problem, but when the yacht had started to sink very fast because none of them knew how to operate the bilge pumps, they had waited until they were quite close to one tiny island and had swam ashore. Astrid could not believe that they were, in modern times, shipwrecked. ...
