Julie Reedy sat at her desk pouring over chemcial diagrams for Patton's Foods latest project, a flavor enhancer. She brushed a lock of brown hair from her forehead and sighed as she considered the problem before her.

"I can't seem to figure this out," she said, leaning back in her chair, her hands interlocking behind her head. "Everything seems to work out on paper, but I can't seem to get these chemicals to combine in any tangible form." She sat up as a taller man knocked on her office door.

"Burning the midnight oil, Julie?" the man asked, poking his greying blond head into the office.

"Not by choice, Simon," she said with a smile. "I'm having a hard time getting this flavor enhancer to work out right. The diagrams seem to be right, so why aren't the chemicals combining?"

"If things worked out as they did on paper, we'd have jetpacks instead of cars," Simon chuckled. "Well, don't stay too much longer. The diagram will still be there in the morning."

"You're right, Simon," Julie said, standing up and putting her lab coat on a hook by the door. "Besides, it's nearly my anniversary. Fifteen years tomorrow."
