Laura and I had decided to take our weeklong Fall vacation in the mountains: Flat Tops State Park. It was off the beaten path, but Laura had been there a few times before. Since our trip was planned for mid- September, we had hoped to avoid any crowds. A week and a half before our trip, the weather was unseasonably cold. Snow fell in Denver. We were concerned.
