Mechanics? by Lover

I arrived home after a long period of being away. I had been serving in the Navy for over 4 years and it was great to get my military obligations out of the way. I was now free to pursue my college education in Electrical Engineering. I had been at sea for so long that I barely ever got home, except for a few days during one short period. When I had any shore leave, I was too far away from home to travel because I was so broke and couldn't afford $2000 flights.

I had been on vacation from formal education for three years now, even though I had over one year in electronic training in the Navy. I received that training to become a Navy Electronics Technician. For the next 3 years though, I was out in the fleet traveling all over the world fixing broken electronic shipboard equipment. With my Navy duty completed, I received my honorable discharge. I was ready to get back into a college routine.

I had blown most of my military income on booze and fun and was counting on the GI Bill for putting me through college. Military pay was quite limiting for any comfortable living, or for savings, or for dating, which was non existent at sea. I was extremely hungry for some serious dating again.
