Upsilon Phi it happened.

First, there was a ceremony. Tau Upsilon Phi had been an active sorority on campus since WW II. Some of the sisters who'd graduated in years past came back to support us and help us learn the culture of TUPH.

There were women in their fifties, sixties and even seventies. It was my Big Sister Laura Swenson who after a couple of drinks decided to have some fun with those older ladies. "Sisters, as undergraduates we're required to have a certain look. I've heard rumors that some of you still maintain that look," she smiled mischievously.

Six or seven of the older women, nodded. One of the two women in her seventies laughed, "my husband still likes to rub his face in it."

"Mine, too."

"My husband cries if I don't get what I call my TUPH wax every month."

Laura wasn't through. "I don't believe it. It's hard to believe that my older sisters still maintain the tradition."

"You don't believe me?" The seventy-year-old sister of Tau Upsilon Phi, stood up, lifted her dress, her half-slip and lowered her panties to her knees. There it was: a nice big grayish tuft just on her pubic bone.

Everyone laughed. I was shocked. It got worse, it least for me. A sister in her fifties said, "well, if Katherine showed you hers, I'll show you mine." Soon her skirt was up and her panties down. "Ursula, you really are a blonde," Laura led the laughter and giggling.

"Damn right I am and like Katherine said my husband still can't get enough of it. Now, how do we know all of you girls are maintaining the tradition?"

Soon skirts or dresses were up and panties down. I was a reluctant, very reluctant participant. Everyone stood there looking at each other. "Oh my, Shannon, if I was Gay, I'd have my face in your beautiful red bush," Laura said to a woman who might have been in her thirties."

Shannon laughed, "I am Gay, and if any of you girls would like a closer look, I live in town."

There were giggles, laughter and smiles, but I noticed one or two girls made eye contact with Shannon.

Tau Upsilon Phi had a sister-brother relationship with Delta Mu, the fraternity house across the street. I was among eight new TUPH pledges. Delta Mu had eight new brothers.

The seniors from each house paired up the newbies. "Hannah," Laura told me, "I've had my eye on Brandon for you since the pledge period began. He seems nice, I think you'll get along."

I had to tell her, but I was hesitant. I was embarrassed.

It got worse. "Right now, some of the sisters are decorating four bedroom upstairs, and across the street some Delta Mu guys are decorating four bedrooms. Your first night as a sister you'll spend with Brandon. Some of those old ladies ended up marrying the Delta Mu guy they were paired with."

Now, I really had to tell her.
