"Yes, that should be fine," Emily responded.

"Thanks for your time on short notice," Matt said to Rachel in her office two days later.
"Sure, what can I do for you?" asked Rachel.
She is definitely attractive, Matt thought, as he looked at Rachel. She had very bright green eyes that were fixed on him.
Matt tried not to be distracted by her beauty and responded, "I would like to discuss your suggestion to close the factory in my business line. I have the output numbers indicating that the factory is highly profitable. Only over the last two quarters has the output dropped due to weak market conditions. Based on our sales projections, we anticipate a further increase in output. Therefore, it does not make sense to close the factory."
Because of the weak market conditions, we need to cut costs. The market recovery that you included in your projections is far too optimistic. Even if the market improves, we can shift production to the other factory, which can produce at much lower costs and is more scalable.
"What do you know about the industry that makes you an expert to question my sales projections?" asked Matt heatedly.
"You are not the first to challenge my expertise. I am used to men thinking that I am just a stupid girl hired for my looks. But guess what, you cannot intimidate me. Come back when you have more than just some projections based on hope," Rachel retorted. "I think we are done. As I said, happy to discuss if you have something more substantiated for me," Rachel said and got up from her chair.
Rachel's behavior left Matt stunned. He also got up. "We are not done yet," he growled, leaving her office.

"How was the meeting with Rachel?" Emily asked when she ran into Matt in the hallway.
"Don't ask, it was a total disaster," Matt responded.
Emily asked, "What happened?"
He complained, "She treated me like some stupid trainee."
"Can I do anything to help?" Emily asked.
"Not right now. I need to consider another strategy," Matt replied.
"Tomorrow, we will have the off-site, and afterward, you can try again to convince her," she tried to lift his spirits.
"Yeah, you are right," conceded Matt.

"We had a tough year last year, but today we want to look ahead and boost our team spirit. So, let's have some fun!" Jack Henley, the CEO, concluded his opening remarks for the off-site event.
They were at a resort in a beautiful landscape with distant mountains and expansive lawns around the main building, which gradually led into forests.
But Matt couldn't enjoy the scenery because he was still processing his meeting with Rachel. He wasn't in the mood for any fun games either. He stood at the back of the hotel lobby with his arms crossed.
"You look as if you wanted to beat up someone instead of having fun with some team-building games," Emily told him. "It is great weather with a blue sky. We are at this nice hotel in this beautiful scenery; therefore, there is no reason to look so gloomy," Emily tried to cheer Matt up.
With Emily radiating so much positive energy, Matt couldn't help but smile.
"Now, with a smile, your handsome face looks much better," Emily told him.
In such situations, when Emily made him smile, Matt regretted that things hadn't worked out with them.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when someone from the events team announced that the groups for the team-building games would be revealed.
"There are four teams with eight people each. The team leaders are gathering here and holding up sheets with their team members," she explained.
There was movement at the makeshift stage, and four of Matt's colleagues lined up. One of them was Rachel. As announced, they held large sheets displaying the names of the team members.
Matt twitched when he saw that he was in Rachel's group. He had to fight the urge to run or hide. Instead, he slowly moved to the group and joined the others. He was glad that one of the other business line heads, John, was also part of the group. He was the one coming up with 'HARC' for éhard ass Rachel Carlow'.
"Shall we call our team 'HARC'?" Matt whispered to John. This comment made John burst out laughing, which irritated Rachel.
"I see the mood is good. Do you want to share your joke with the others on our team?" Rachel asked Matt.
"It was nothing, just a running gag between John and me; nothing interesting for the team," replied Matt.
Rachel shot him a doubtful look but decided to let it go. "Okay, then let's get moving. We will get our first task outside."
"You act like teenagers defying their teacher," Emily scolded Matt softly.
Matt only realized then that Emily was also on his team, and his spirits lifted. "I am glad that you are also on the team. I need some support to handle our great CFO," he told her.
"You are exaggerating. You had a bad start with her, but today is a good chance to get to know her better. Once you understand her strengths and weaknesses, you'll be able to handle her more effectively in the future," Emily said.
"When you say it in your logical way, it sounds so easy," growled Matt.
"It is easy; just give her a chance," Emily suggested.
"Mhm, you are probably right, as usual," Matt admitted. "Let's see how it goes today."
"I am right," smiled Emily.
They went outside and gathered around Rachel, who had just received the card with their first task. They were standing on the lawn in the hotel's garden.
"Our first task is called the 'human knot'. Does anyone know what that is?" asked Rachel.
"Yes, that is fun," exclaimed Pam, one of the managers reporting to John. "I can explain it. First, we circle up. Then everyone extends their left hand and grabs another person's hand. When everyone has grabbed a hand, we do the same with the right hand."
Matt stood across from Rachel. With his left hand, he reached out to John, who was standing next to Rachel. Meanwhile, Rachel's right hand reached out toward him, and he took it. He acknowledged taking Rachel's hand with a quick smile in her direction, and she responded with a smile as well. Matt realized that she had a beautiful smile.
"How are we going to untangle this mess of hands?" asked Emily.
"That is exactly the question," said Pam. "We need to figure out who needs to move to untangle the hands. And remember, do not let go of the hands you're holding."
"John, you can turn slightly and duck under the arm holding Matt's hand," Rachel suggested. John followed her instructions, but his move twisted Matt's arm. "Ouch, that was a stupid move," Matt exclaimed. Pam, try to turn and lift the arm holding John's hand over your head.
With that move, Matt could relax a bit more. Rachel's arm was, however, twisted even more than before. "Ow! That was also a stupid move," she complained. "Now our arms are even more entangled."
"Emily, I think you can help by lifting your right arm and turning," Pam suggested. The situation improved as Emily followed the suggestion, and Rachel and Matt could stand more relaxed. Pam proposed a few more moves, and the human knot continued to untangle.
"It seems that Pam is the master of this game," John said.
"She is definitely better than our team leader," Matt replied.
Encouraged by some murmurs of disapproval from others, Rachel retorted, "You have not contributed to a solution, either." Her reply to Matt's comment earned her some smiles, especially from the women, which made Matt even angrier.
"Let's focus on untangling our knot here instead of blaming each other," Emily suggested, giving Matt a dark stare.
"Good idea," Pam agreed.
After some additional moves, they finally untangled their human knot, which made the group cheer, and the mood improved after Matt's and Rachel's quarrel.
"Great job, everyone," praised Rachel. "For the next task, we need to move to the spot next to the terrace." She pointed to the spot, and the group moved in that direction.
Rachel moved closer to Matt and held him back. "Can I have a quick word with you?" she asked Matt softly.
The others were loudly chatting about how they had untangled their human knot, ignoring Matt and Rachel as they fell back.
"What is your problem?" Rachel asked him when the group had moved out of earshot.
"I do not have a problem," said Matt defiantly. "What are you talking about?" he asked.
"Can we talk like adults?" Rachel asked impatiently. "What is your problem with me?"
"Do you always take yourself so seriously and think everything is about you?" asked Matt in response.
"Well, you attacked me personally during the last game, so I think it's safe to assume it's about me," she reasoned.
"You think you're very clever, don't you?" he retorted.
"Yes, I don't think I am dumb," she shot back.
Matt had to admit that her brazenness intrigued him, but it also made him even angrier.
"You think you can join the company without any knowledge about the industry or the company and then tell us how to run the business?" Matt blurted out.
"So, this is your problem. I am an outsider and a woman who joins your Boy Scout group, and you fear that your position will be challenged," she accused him. "You are afraid that it could turn out that the way you have always run your business was not the most efficient one. You could even be asked to change how you run your business," she added.
"It seems you are a big fan of pigeonholing," Matt said. "I am not afraid of change or admitting that I could do things differently to be more efficient. But I do care about people and do not want to reduce the workforce for the sake of it."
"Then you think I don't care about people? Who's now pigeonholing?" Rachel asked sarcastically.
"Rachel, I think you are needed here as our team leader," John called out to her from the edge of the terrace, interrupting their conversation.
Rachel shot a look at Matt and moved to join the rest of the group. Matt slowly followed her.
"Everything okay?" Emily asked quietly as Matt reached the group.
"Yeah, Rachel wanted to talk to me," Matt said.
"And?" she asked.
"We talked," he responded. "Add pigeonholing to hard ass."
Emily looked displeased at Matt.
"Okay, guys. We have our next task," Rachel announced to her team before Emily could say anything more.
"We need to get on the small platform over there." She pointed to a structure next to some trees, near the edge of the lawn. "Then we need to get over the slackline and gather on the second platform at the end of the slackline," Rachel explained. "Let's move over there and have a closer look," she suggested.
The team moved to the first platform. It was approximately four feet long and three feet wide.
"That looks rather small for eight people," John noted. "We should try to form two lines with four people each, standing one after the other."
"That sounds like a good plan," Matt agreed.
"What about the slackline?" asked Matt. "Anything specific to consider?"
The slackline was approximately ten feet long and five feet above the ground.
"If someone falls off the slackline, then the whole team needs to start all over again at the first platform," Rachel explained the rules for this game.
"The ones on the second platform can help the ones on the slackline," suggested Pam. "I can go first; I will manage without help," she offered.
"Great," said Rachel. "Who can go last? They need to go through the first part without help."
"I can go last," said Matt.
"Are you sure?" Rachel asked doubtfully.
Matt glared at her. "Yes, I am sure. Why do you question me but not Pam?" he asked.
"If you are sure, it is fine," she responded. "Okay, we have a plan, so let's get going," she encouraged her team.
The team went onto the platform with Matt going last. He needed to stay very close behind Rachel to avoid falling off. Her hair smelled good, he realized. He also noticed that her firm ass pressed against his crotch. He stretched out his right arm to steady himself, and Rachel grabbed his arm.
"Do you stand on the platform?" asked Rachel.
"Yes, all good," Matt replied.
"The first objective, we have accomplished," said Rachel. "Now let's move on to the second part; Pam, it's your turn."
Pam carefully placed her first foot on the slackline, which quivered with her weight. She steadied herself, lowered her arms to her sides, and began to move one foot after the other. The team cheered when she reached the other platform with little difficulty.
Emily moved next and easily reached the second platform. After Emily, the team found its rhythm, and they reached the second platform one by one. Only Rachel and Matt were left on the first platform.
"I hate slacklines," murmured Rachel. "You can do it, Rachel," she added softly to herself. She didn't mean for Matt to hear, but he was close enough to catch it, even though he pretended not to have heard.
"Okay, Rachel, it's your turn. It's no big deal; you'll do it with ease. Give me your hand, and I'll steady you," he encouraged her.
"I know that I can do it," she retorted, but took his offered hand and stepped onto the slackline. It quivered dangerously, but she leaned on Matt's hand, and the line quivered less. She placed her second foot on the slackline and moved slowly to the other side, where Emily was already waiting to take her other hand. With a few more steps, Rachel grabbed Emily's hand and reached the second platform.
"Okay, now only our slacklining expert remains," Rachel called out to Matt. "Show us what you can do."
Matt glared at her but decided to let it go. He stepped onto the slackline and stretched his arms out to the sides. He steadied himself and carefully placed one foot after the other when he noticed something black out of the corner of his eye. A cat suddenly darted from behind and leapt onto the slackline. Matt turned, looked at the cat, lost his balance, and jumped off the slackline.
"Great, Matt, now we have to start all over," Rachel scolded. "It seems you're not such a great slacklining expert as you claimed."
"A cat was jumping on the slackline that distracted me," Matt defended himself.
"You always have an excuse, don't you?" Rachel responded.
"Be fair with him, it wasn't his fault," Emily said calmly.
"Don't bother," Matt told her.
"Okay, it was a setback, but let's just keep going," Pam tried to cheer up the group. "Matt, I suggest you go first, and I go last."
"Good idea," John agreed with her. There was a consenting murmur from the rest of the group.
John moved onto the first platform first, and the others followed suit. When they all stood on the platform, Matt stepped onto the slackline. He extended his arms and, with slow steps, crossed the slackline without any issues. When he reached the second platform, the group erupted in cheers.
The rest of the group followed and crossed the slackline without any more issues.
Then, only Rachel and Pam remained on the first platform. Pam quietly talked to Rachel, who took Pam's hand and stepped onto the slackline.
Matt stepped to the edge of the second platform and reached out his arm toward Rachel.
"Just a few more steps, you've done it before," he encouraged Rachel. She looked at him in surprise. She reached out her hand, and Matt took it. After a few more steps, she was on the platform.
"Thanks," Rachel murmured.
Then Pam quickly glided down the slackline and received a big cheer from the group when she stepped onto the second platform.
"Well done, team," Rachel exclaimed.
"Okay, let's go back to the terrace to finish our last task," Rachel told her team.
The group started to move, and Matt and Emily fell back a bit.
"That was not okay that Rachel scolded you for falling off the slackline because of that cat," she said. "But it was a nice gesture to encourage her when she went across the slackline. One could tell from her facial expression that she was afraid."
"Well, sometimes the best retort is to be unexpectedly nice," he replied.
"Well said," she chuckled.
The group gathered at the edge of the terrace and waited for Rachel to announce their next task.
"Our next task will be on water. We will board canoes on the small river. We need to find several items. Our team will be divided into four groups, each consisting of two people. Here, I have a box with slips of paper with numbers from 1 to 4. People with matching numbers will share a canoe. Please take a slip and pass the box around.
Emily took the box, drew a slip, and let the others each take one as they headed to the spot at the river where the canoes were tied to a small pier. With only one slip remaining, she returned the box to Rachel.
"Okay, has everyone found their canoe mate?" Rachel asked. She received a murmured agreement in response. She opened the last slip of paper and asked, "Who has the other '3'?"
"Great, luck is really with me today," said Matt. "You are my canoe mate," he told Rachel, who rolled her eyes.
"Try not to kill each other on the water," laughed Pam. "Perhaps it's safer to stay away from canoe 3," she said to the rest of the group, which earned her some grins from the team.
When they reached the pier, a hotel employee greeted them and handed out life jackets. "Please always wear the life jackets. This part of the river is very calm, but it is part of the terms and conditions. Don't take the other arm of the river on your way back. There are some rapids and a small waterfall. One last thing, make sure not to lose your paddles. Without the paddles, you are lost, as you can no longer steer or move. That's all from my side. Enjoy and see you later," he concluded his instructions.
The team members got into their canoes and paddled away from the pier. They met in the middle of the river. The canoe teams tried to synchronize their paddling and stay on course.
Rachel said, "I have our last task. We need to find boxes placed somewhere along the river. The boxes are numbered, and each canoe team must find a box with a number matching their canoe. The boxes with even numbers are on the right side of the river, and those with odd numbers are on the left side."
She sat in the bow seat of the canoe. "You are responsible for steering," she told Matt.
"Aye, aye, captain," Matt replied sarcastically.
"Do you have any experience with boats?" she asked.
"Not much, I did a few canoeing and kayaking tours. What about you?" he replied.
"Not much, either. I like to have solid ground beneath my feet," she admitted.
"Have you had bad experiences in the past? You didn't enjoy the slackline, either."
"Are you always so nosy?" Rachel retorted.
Her response slightly took Matt aback. "Sorry, I didn't mean to pry, just wanted to make some innocuous small talk."
"Okay, let's go," Rachel said to Matt. She began to paddle, and he mimicked her movements to ensure they were moving in a straight line.
They stared at the shore in search of their box.
"There is a box," exclaimed Rachel, pointing to a wooden box on a strip of lawn at the shore.
"That is our box," Pam announced from the canoe behind them. "See, there is a '1' on the box."
John steered the canoe to the shore, and Pam got out. She picked up the box and put it into the canoe.
"You can return to the hotel and wait for us," Rachel said.
When the next team found their box, someone shouted across the river.
"Well done, we will see you at the hotel," Rachel shouted.
Rachel and Matt moved ahead and kept watching the shore.
When the third team found their box, they heard more shouting from the other side.
"See you in a bit," they shouted, turning their canoe around to head back to the hotel.
"Now, it's only us," said Matt. "Where's the damn box?"
They moved slowly forward, constantly scanning the shore for their box.
The shoreline became more overgrown with bushes and small trees.
"We must have missed the box," said Matt. "Or there is no box," he added as an afterthought.
"You mean it might have been a cat that took the box away?" Rachel smirked.
"Very funny," growled Matt.
"I suggest turning around and searching the shore again," he said.
"You are probably right," Rachel agreed. "We missed it."
They turned the canoe around and slowly paddled along the shoreline, scanning the shore for the box.
They had continued for a while without success when Rachel shrieked, "There are rapids ahead! We took the wrong arm of the river."
Rachel paddled frantically. "Do something," she shouted at Matt. "We need to turn around."
"Calm down!" Matt told her. "We need to get to the shore and get out. We can't turn around."
They reached the first rapids, and the canoe was tossed back and forth. Rachel shrieked again.
"Over there is a patch with rocks. There, we can go ashore. Paddle on the right side," shouted Matt.
Rachel put her paddle on the left side into the water.
"Paddle to the right," he shouted at Rachel.
"I paddle as fast as I can," Rachel cried.
"But on the wrong side," Matt replied.
Rachel looked confused but shifted her paddle to the other side.
However, it was too late; they were still far from the shore when they passed the patch of rocks.
"No worries, we'll find another suitable spot to go ashore," Matt tried to calm her.
"Next time, give me earlier instructions," Rachel retorted.
"I told you to paddle on the right side," Matt snapped angrily.
"But too late," Rachel complained.
"There is another patch with rocks. Now paddle on the left," he shouted.
This time, Rachel paddled on the correct side.
They hit the next rapids, which had strong currents. Rachel shrieked and let go of her paddle. "Oh no!" she cried.
Matt frantically paddled. Luckily, they were heading toward the shore, and it was close enough for Matt to bring the canoe onto the beach with just a few strong paddle strokes.
Rachel jumped ashore from the canoe. Matt quickly followed her from the back of the canoe. They pulled the canoe onto the rocky patch.
"Okay, I will call the hotel and ask them to pick us up," Rachel said. "Shit, no signal, damn it!" Rachel exclaimed. "Can you try yours?" she asked him.
"No, I can't because my phone is at the hotel. If you recall, you asked us to leave our phones there so we could focus on the games," Matt reminded her.
"Shit!" she swore. "Now what? Any good ideas from the Boy Scout?"
"Are you blaming me for getting us into this mess?" Matt asked.
"Of course I do. We agreed that you would steer the canoe," Rachel said.
"That is ridiculous. I sat in the stern seat of the canoe and, by default, would steer. But we both looked for the box, focused on the shore, and missed that we took the wrong arm of the river."
"Always making excuses! Just own up if you do something wrong," Rachel requested.
"I didn't do anything wrong. And if I had done something wrong, I would have also taken responsibility," Matt said.
"Why do you always criticize me and mistreat me?" Matt asked.
"Oh, poor little thing, is the world mistreating you?" said Rachel sarcastically.
"It is not the world, it's just you," he retorted. "I have had enough of your childish behavior. I'm leaving, do what you like." He turned and walked towards some trees at the end of the rocky shoreline.
"Hey, don't leave me here alone," Rachel cried.
Matt ignored her and hurried toward the trees.
"Matt, wait for me," shouted Rachel after him. "Okay, it is not entirely your fault."
Matt turned and looked at her in surprise.
"Did I hear correctly that Ms. Carlow admitted that she made a mistake?" Matt asked.
"Don't be such an asshole!" she replied.
"I am an asshole?" Matt asked, disbelief in his voice. He turned again and kept walking.
"Wait, okay, I am sorry," Rachel said.
Matt stopped and turned around. "What are you sorry for?"
Rachel said in a low voice, "For accusing you of being responsible for this mess."
"I'm freaking out; I hate the outdoors. You asked if I've ever had a bad experience. Yes, I had a rough outdoor experience with my mom and stepfather. We were on a hike when the weather turned bad. We got lost and wandered around for two days before we found a settlement," she recounted.
"And it didn't help that you, idiot, were also kind to me when I was rude to you," she accused him.
"I can't remember being called an idiot for being nice to a woman before," he replied.
"Mhm," she growled.
"Okay, let's head back to the hotel," Matt suggested.
He turned around and headed again for the trees. After a few steps, he looked back and saw Rachel standing where he had left her.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I can't," she murmured.
"What is it that you can't?" Matt inquired.
"I can't go into the woods," she said in a trembling voice.
Matt went back to her and saw that her whole body was trembling.
Without thinking, he pulled her into his arms. He felt her heart pounding too fast.
"It's okay, I'm here. I won't leave you. Okay, let's breathe together. Inhale, hold your breath, and slowly exhale. Again, inhale, hold, and exhale. One more time, inhale, hold, and exhale.
Rachel's heartbeat slowed.
"I'm okay," Rachel said, pushing Matt away. "We can go."
Matt was surprised but said, "Then let's go."
Rachel walked towards the trees, and Matt followed her.
"So, which way?" asked Rachel as they reached the trees.
"The hotel should be in that direction," said Matt, pointing. "We first need to get up these rocks over there," he added, pointing to some rocks on their left.
"Great, first wild water rafting and now rock climbing," Rachel complained.
Matt shifted slightly so Rachel couldn't see the smirk on his face. Rachel looked adorable when she was upset.
"Okay, then let's tackle the problem," Matt said encouragingly and began walking.
Soon after, they reached the rocks and started climbing. "This is easier than I thought," remarked Rachel as she climbed the last stones.
They were now in an area where the trees stood close together and the ground was overgrown with bushes. Making progress here was somewhat challenging. As they moved further into the woods, the light grew dimmer. The sunshine bathed the forest in green light.
"It looks a bit mystical with this green light, don't you think?" asked Matt.
"I don't see anything mystical, it's just a damn forest," responded Rachel.
Matt disagreed with her. He thought she looked magical, her hair glowing auburn in the sunshine. But he said nothing and kept walking.
Shortly afterward, they encountered the next obstacle: a forest creek flowing through the woods.
"I will step on that stone over there and help you across," said Matt.
"I don't need your help, I can do it on my own," Rachel contended.
"Don't be silly, what I don't need is you slipping and getting yourself hurt," he said, short-tempered.
"You are an arrogant bastard," she growled.
"And you are a stubborn fool if you don't accept help when you need it," Matt rebutted.
Matt stepped onto the rock in the middle of the creek and reached for her hand.
Reluctantly, Rachel took his hand, stepped on a rock next to the one Matt was standing on, and made a big step to reach the other side of the creek.
Rachel glared at him, and Matt let go of her hand.
With firm steps, she kept walking through the thick bushes.
It was getting darker in the woods as the sunset started.
"How much longer do we need to walk to get out of this damn forest?" asked Rachel.
"I don't know," admitted Matt.
"You are a great Boy Scout," Rachel grumbled.
"If we don't find a road within the next hour, we need to find a place to sleep and continue in the morning to find a road or a spot where your phone gets a signal," Matt said.
"No way, I am not staying in these damn woods overnight," Rachel cried.
"You can also try 'Beam me up, Scotty', but I'm afraid that Scotty is not on duty today," smirked Matt.
He turned and continued walking. Rachel shouted after him, "You are so funny!"
The bushes became less dense, and the trees were farther apart, making walking easier. However, as the clouds above them darkened, the darkness deepened.
"No, not rain," shrieked Rachel when she felt the first raindrops on her skin.
Instinctively, they walked faster when the rain became heavier, and the wind picked up.
"Over there is a structure," exclaimed Matt, pointing to their right.
They nearly ran to what appeared to be a small cabin.
"Shit, it is locked," said Matt. "Does your phone have a signal?"
"No, still no signal," she replied.
He looked around and saw a rock. He picked it up and came back to the door.
"What are you doing?" asked Rachel. "Do you want to break into the cabin?"
"It belongs to the state park. We can call them tomorrow and pay for it. Or would you prefer to stay outside and sleep in the woods?" he asked Rachel.
"No way, just do it," she agreed.
Matt lifted the rock and smashed the lock on the door. The door sprang open, and they entered the cabin. Matt leaned against the door to keep it closed. With the door closed, the cabin felt warm and cozy. It was just one room with a table, some chairs, and a twin bed.
"Let's move the table before the door," suggested Matt.
He came over to the table, and Rachel and he carried the table to the door.
Matt saw a stove at the back of the cabin and a basket with firewood next to it. He walked over to the stove, opened the door, and put some small twigs into it. They were fortunate because there were even some matches in the basket with firewood. He ignited the twigs with a match. When the fire was burning, he added some more small firewood and closed the stove door.
Rachel sat trembling on a chair. There was already a small puddle under her feet from her wet clothes.
"You need to take off your wet clothes," Matt told her. He realized that he was also dripping wet. He took off his shirt and started to undo the button of his pants when he saw that Rachel was not moving.
"Hey Rachel, you will catch a cold when you do not take off your wet clothes," Matt tried to wake Rachel from her stupor.
"I will not undress in front of you," she told him.
"I will turn around," Matt responded. He got out of his pants and trunks and spread his clothes on the floor before the oven. Then he pulled the mattress from the bed and put it closer to the stove.
He turned to Rachel, who had also undressed and stood naked next to the chair on which she had sat before. Matt needed to focus on not staring at her body but looking into her intense green eyes. As Emily had mentioned, Rachel was indeed hot. She had a cute heart-shaped face with some freckles on her small, straight nose. She had C-cup breasts with pink areolae and dark pink nipples, which were hard from the cold.
"Come over here closer to the stove," he told her, and opened the stove door to put some more firewood into it.
He sat on the mattress and patted it next to him, "Sit down, I don't bite."
"That's to be seen," she muttered, but came over and bent down to spread her clothes next to Matt's on the floor. That gave Matt a nice view of her firm ass.
She slowly sat down next to him.
Rachel's arm touched his, and he exclaimed, "You are cold as ice." He put an arm around Rachel.
"Don't do anything stupid," she warned him.
"Relax, I just want to steal some warmth from you," he chuckled.
"Idiot," she said, but smiled. "For the records, it's only for the warmth. I must admit you radiate nearly as much heat as the stove."
"That is because of the hot woman next to me, even though she is currently rather a snow queen," Matt smirked.
"I said, don't do anything stupid," Rachel retorted, but Matt was unsure whether she said it to him or herself.
"I didn't move," Matt defended himself. "But I should rub your back to get your blood flowing. It feels like an ice slab. Or even better, just lean against me."
Matt took his arm from Rachel's shoulders and moved behind her. She sat between his spread legs but did not lean back. Matt reached around her, putting his right hand on her left shoulder. He pulled her towards him. Her cold back touched his chest. He could look over her shoulder and had a nice view of her tits and nipples and further down to her auburn landing strip.
They sat silently before Rachel admitted, "The snow queen feels like she is slowly thawing."
"Glad to hear," Matt smirked. He felt that Rachel relaxed a bit.
"I think I need to put a bit more wood into the stove," said Matt, and got up.
"Please hurry. I am already missing my back heating," Rachel said.
Matt put as many logs into the oven as would fit. He felt Rachel staring at him from behind.
Matt turned, stepped around Rachel, and sat swiftly down behind her, but this time closer so that her firm ass pressed into his crotch. Her ass was still freezing, which cooled down his dick as well.
He pressed his legs against hers, which were also still colder than his.
"The snow queen still needs heating to further thaw," Matt remarked.
"Mhm," Rachel murmured. "I'm getting tired."
"Just lie down," Matt suggested and moved away from her.
Rachel lay down on her side facing the stove. Matt lay down behind her. He wriggled his right arm under her head. He put his right hand on hers and pushed their hands down onto her tummy.
"How does my snow queen feel?" he asked.
"Slowly warming up," she replied and snuggled into his arm.
Matt kissed her neck.
"What are you doing?" asked Rachel. "You promised not to do anything stupid."
"You told me not to do anything stupid," Matt whispered. "Do I do anything stupid? If yes, tell me to stop." He continued to kiss her behind the ear and nibbled on her earlobe.
Rachel squeezed Matt's hand. "No, don't stop," she whispered and turned her head.
Matt kissed her on the mouth. She parted her lips, and he poked the tip of his tongue into her mouth and twirled around the tip of her tongue.
Matt moved to the side, and Rachel rolled onto her back. He kissed down her chin, over her neck to her right tit. He squeezed it with his hand and licked around the areola before taking her hard nipple into his mouth and sucking on it. Rachel moaned softly. Matt moved with his mouth to her other tit while still squeezing the right one.
While still attending to her tits with his hands, he kissed back up to her mouth.
"You are so beautiful," Matt mouthed.
Rachel rolled onto him and kissed him on the mouth.
She kissed down over his chest to his cock. "This snowman needs some warming up," she said and took his cock into her warm mouth. She stroked his shaft while she licked around his cock head before she took more of his cock into her mouth.
Matt's cock grew very quickly under Rachel's hand and mouth. When it was throbbing and wet with her saliva, she let go of his erect cock and straddled Matt. She lowered her wet pussy slowly onto his stiff cock and moaned softly when it filled her pussy.
Rachel moved her hips back and forth before lowering herself onto Matt's chest and kissing him on the mouth.
Matt put his arms around her, holding her tight in place, and started fucking her pussy.
Rachel pushed against his arms, straightened up, and gyrated her hips. Then she moved her hips up and down Matt's cock and steadied herself with her hand on Matt's chest.
"Yeah, come on my hard cock," Matt encouraged Rachel, whose breathing became faster and moaning louder.
"Oh fuck, your cock feels good!" she moaned.
Matt squeezed her tits and twisted her nipples with his fingers, which pushed her over the brink.
"Fuck, I'm coming!" she exclaimed and collapsed onto Matt's chest.
Matt straightened and turned Rachel on her back. He grabbed her hips and started to pound her pussy, which was wet with her juices.
"Fuck me, yeah, that's it, keep going, oh, fuck," she cried.
Matt continued fucking Rachel's pussy until she screamed, "Oh, fuck, I'm coming."
He gave her a few moments before he slipped his cock out of her pussy. Then he turned her around onto her stomach, grabbed her hips, and pulled her ass towards him. He reached around her and put one hand on her dripping pussy. With his middle finger, he pushed into her pussy and moved to her swollen clit. He rubbed over her sensitive nub and left his finger there when he pushed his cock into her pussy, which made Rachel moan with pleasure.
Rachel put her head on the mattress and grabbed the edge of it when Matt started to pound her pussy again.
Matt reached around Rachel and squeezed one tit and twisted her nipple. He pulled her back against his chest and put his other hand on her pussy. His finger circled her clit while he kissed her. Rachel moaned into his mouth.
Matt broke the kiss and pushed Rachel down again before fucking her pussy with increased speed.
"Oh yes, fuck me!" Rachel exclaimed. "Keep going, yes, yes, like this. I'm coming," Rachel cried out.
Matt felt her pussy muscles contracting around his cock. He groaned and spurted his cum into her pussy.
Matt collapsed on Rachel, and they lay on each other for a few minutes, panting, before Matt turned Rachel on her side and moved again behind her, so they were in the position as before they started kissing.
"Did we do anything stupid?" asked Matt.
Rachel was about to respond when someone knocked heavily on the door.
"Is anyone in there?" a male voice shouted. Someone was trying to push the door open, but with the table blocking it, it only slowly opened.
Matt jumped up, grabbed his trunks, and put them on.
"Yes, coming," he shouted, walked over to the door, and moved the table away.
A park ranger entered the cabin. "Are you Matt Fisher?" he asked.
"Yes, why?" Matt asked, confused.
"We are searching for you and Ms. Carlow," the ranger replied. But it seems that you are doing okay," he smirked, looking at Rachel, who had quickly put on her wet shirt and her Tanga panties.
"We got onto the wrong arm of the river, managed to get out of the canoe, walked through the forest, and found this cabin after we got wet in the rain," Matt explained. "Unfortunately, Rachel's phone did not have a signal. Therefore, we could not call the hotel."
"Whatever, I can bring you to the hotel if you want," he offered.
"Yes, please," responded Rachel. "Give us a minute to pick up our stuff."
"What about the fire in the stove?" asked Matt.
"I will take care of it," replied the ranger.
They put on their still-wet clothes and left the cabin. The rain had stopped, but the area in front of the hut was muddy. Cautiously, they walked over to the ranger's pickup and got in. Rachel did not look at Matt. There was an awkward silence in the car when the ranger got in.
"It's only a few minutes to the hotel," he announced. He felt the change in the mood in the car and asked, "Everything okay with you both? I will not tell anyone what I saw in that hut."
"There was nothing to see or to tell," said Rachel, agitated.
The ranger was a bit irritated but said nothing.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the hotel. Matt and Rachel exited the car and entered the hotel lobby, where the rest of the participants of the off-site event greeted them. Emily came running from the back and flew into Matt's arms. Rachel looked irritated but was distracted by Jack Henley, the CEO. "I am so glad to see you unharmed."
"Thank you, Jack. We were lucky to find shelter in that cabin in the woods."
Emily let go of Matt. "I was really concerned," she said to him. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I need to get out of the wet clothes, but otherwise I'm fine," he replied.
"I told you to try not to kill each other," chuckled Pam. "That didn't work out that well, it seems. In any case, good to see that you are well."
The amiable chatter continued for a while before Jack said, "Now that everyone is safely back, we can enjoy the evening. Let's gather in the bar."
"I will join you shortly when I have changed into dry clothes," announced Rachel and moved to the elevator bank.
"Same here," added Matt and followed Rachel.
They stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the floor where their rooms were located.
"What happened in the cabin must stay in that cabin. I rely on your discretion," said Rachel after the elevator door had closed.
"I will not tell anyone, I promise. I'm aware of the sensitivity and don't have any incentive to divulge our little secret," Matt replied.
Rachel still looked uncomfortable.
Matt changed the topic and said, "In any case, I am glad you were with me on our adventure trip."
"Even though you were visibly miles outside your comfort zone, you pulled it through," Matt praised her.
"Mhm, it does not feel like one of my most brilliant achievements, but thanks for the compliment and your help to survive out there in the wilderness. After all, you are not the worst Boy Scout," Rachel smirked.
"Be prepared, as they say," he chuckled.
"I would have thought that you preferred to have Emily with you," said Rachel.
"Why would you think so?" asked Matt.
"Well, she did not greet you like a colleague when we entered the hotel lobby," explained Rachel.
"Ah, that you mean. We have known each other since high school. Back then, we actually dated for a short time, but it did not work out. Since then, we have been good friends," Matt replied.
"See you in a few," Rachel said when she reached her room.
"See you," replied Matt, and went to his room.
***
When he had changed, Matt went down to the bar and met his colleagues. He was chatting with Pam and John when Rachel entered the bar.
Pam called out to her, "There is our team leader, come over and have a drink with us."
Rachel came over to them and said, "A drink sounds wonderful."
"How are you feeling?" asked John.
"I'm fine, thanks. It is good to be inside on solid ground," she replied.
"I am wondering what went wrong with our search. We looked really hard but did not find this damn box," Matt recounted.
"Well, it seems that the hotel crew preparing our games had forgotten to place the box with the number 3," Pam revealed. "So, you could not find the box."
"Really?" exclaimed Rachel, rolling her eyes. "What a fuck-up! Are you suggesting that this whole mess only happened because some fool forgot to place one of the four boxes? That can't be that difficult." Rachel had raised her voice, and the whole bar went quiet. The colleagues turned their heads to see what was happening.
Jack came over to them and asked, "Everything okay?"
"No, nothing is okay. I have just learned that the hotel screwed up and forgot to place the box we were looking for. They caused us to end up in these dangerous rapids. And only because of them, we needed to hike through this forest and break into a cabin," Rachel complained.
"Excuse me, please," a woman was approaching them. "I am the hotel manager, and I would like to apologize for the inconvenience due to our failure," she said.
"'Inconvenience' does not describe in the least what we had to endure," retorted Rachel.
"I understand your anger, and we would like to offer you and your colleague a weekend here at our hotel for free as a gesture of apology", responded the hotel manager.
The offer took Rachel by surprise, and she did not immediately reply.
"That is a nice gesture, but we still need to talk about this again," said Jack. "I leave it up to my colleagues to accept your offer."
Matt looked at Rachel with a questioning look. He shrugged his shoulders to indicate that they should accept the offer if they wanted to hide their little escapade.
"Okay, thank you. We will accept your offer," Rachel responded on their behalf.
"Great," replied the hotel manager. "Just let us know which weekend would suit you."
She turned and left the group. The chatter started again in the bar.
"That was unexpected," said Matt to Rachel.
"Yes, indeed. My first reaction was to decline the offer. I was not sure whether I wanted to return here. But the hotel is nice, and if I don't need to get back into a canoe or go rock climbing, it is okay," she said. "And it would have been suspicious if we had not accepted the offer."
"By the way, can we get something to eat here?" asked Rachel. "I am hungry."
"Well, not surprisingly. We only had breakfast and a sandwich for lunch, which feels like days ago. Let's ask at the bar what they have on offer," Matt suggested.
They chose both a cheeseburger with fries and ordered a beer with it. They sat down at a table at the back of the bar.
"Cheers to an adventurous day," Matt said, clinking glasses with Rachel.
"Indeed, an adventurous day," replied Rachel.
"So, when do we want to return to redeem our voucher for the weekend?" asked Matt.
"Who said that we would go together?" asked Rachel in response. "I am not sure whether I want to have another adventurous day here."
"Well, as you said, you do not need to go near a canoe, rocks, or forest. Therefore, you should be safe even if I'm around," Matt smirked. "Obviously, you can also come here alone and enjoy the solitude of your hotel room. That could be the safer option, but it would be less fun."
"So, you think that you are fun," asked Rachel.
"I think that I am not boring," he replied.
"Mhm," she murmured.
"What about if we just stayed and spent this weekend here? I know it is rather spontaneous."
"Well, that is indeed spontaneous. Let me check my calendar." Rachel took out her phone and tapped on it. "I could move two things and would have time," she said.
"Cool, let's go to the front desk after we have finished our dinner and let them know that we would like to stay over the weekend," Matt suggested.
"Okay," agreed Rachel.
After they had spoken to the front desk, they returned to the bar.
Rachel said, "I would like to speak to Jack", and went over to him while Matt joined a group with Emily, John, and Pam.
"Hi, Matt. Have you already planned your weekend?" asked Emily.
"We will indeed stay and spend this weekend here," replied Matt.
"Hopefully, it will be less exciting than today," smirked Pam.
"That was actually Rachel's pre-condition to agree to go together," Matt chuckled. "So, no canoeing, rock climbing, or hikes through dense forests."
"That sounds a bit boring," smirked John.
"Well, after our adventures today, I can also agree with less adventurous activities."
"For today, I have had enough. I will go to my room, I'm tired," said Matt.
"I will also go to my room," said Emily.
Emily and Matt bid goodnight to the remaining colleagues and headed to the elevator bank. They stepped into the next elevator.
"So, have you changed your mind about Rachel? Is she not that bad after all?" asked Emily. "I mean, you agreed to spend a whole weekend with her."
"I have her not entirely figured out, I must admit. Sometimes, she is friendly and fun to talk to, and the next moment, she is nasty and rejecting."
"Mhm, you have the whole weekend to get to know her better and make the right decisions. Good night," Emily said. She left the elevator when they reached the floor where her room was located.
"Good night," Matt responded, looking slightly irritated after Emily.

Matt went to bed and fell asleep almost immediately.
He woke up when he heard soft knocks on his room door. He quickly searched for his trunks and opened the door. Rachel stood in her bathrobe and slippers in the dimly lit hallway.
"Can I come in?" she asked with a trembling voice.
"Sure, come in," Matt responded.
"Are you okay?" he asked, but he realized at the same time that she was trembling.
He took her into his arms and felt her heart beating fast. "What is it?" he wanted to know.
"I had a nightmare. The bear was there again," she replied.
Matt did not fully understand, but said, "You are safe, you are inside, and I am here."
He felt her heartbeat slowing down. "Do you want to sit down?" Matt asked and led her to the bed. He pushed her down and sat next to her.
"Thanks," she murmured.
"Do you want to drink anything?" Matt asked her.
"Would you have some water?" Rachel asked.
"Sure." Matt reached for the sideboard, where he had some water bottles. He opened a bottle and handed it to Rachel.
"Thanks," she said.
"Would you mind if I stayed for a bit?" Rachel wanted to know.
"Not at all," Matt replied. "Lie down. This time, I also have a duvet if you want to take off your bathrobe."
"Well, given that you have already seen me naked, it doesn't matter anyway," Rachel murmured.
She dropped her bathrobe, under which she wore a black silk nightgown, and got into bed under the duvet.
Matt followed her under the duvet and asked, "How is my snow queen doing?"
"Feeling warm, thanks", she replied.
"Do you want to tell me about the bear?" he asked.
"No, not now," answered Rachel. "Perhaps you can just take me in your arms."
Matt lay on his back and extended his arm. Rachel moved her head onto his shoulder and her arm across his chest. She closed her eyes and sighed, "The world feels so simple here in your warm bed."
"Indeed, it is just you and me," said Matt and kissed her on the top of her head.
She looked up, surprised, "We said we would not do any more stupid things."
"You told me not to do stupid things, and I promised never to talk about any stupid things. So, you can tell me to stop kissing you," he replied.
"You don't play fair. I hate you when you are weakening my resolve not to fuck the company," she said and kissed him.
Matt kissed her back.
She opened her mouth and poked her tongue into his mouth. He twirled his tongue around hers.
Matt kissed her neck and up to her left ear. He nibbled at her earlobe and kissed her cheek and back to her mouth. Their tongues twisted again.
Rachel straddled Matt and straightened up. She gyrated her hips over Matt's crotch, which made his cock grow in his trunks. Rachel lowered herself back on Matt's chest, and they kissed again. Matt caressed her back through her silky night gown, moving his fingers with a light touch up and down her spine.
Rachel straightened up and moved her hips back and forth over Matt's crotch.
Matt grabbed her hips and pulled her up until she was sitting on his face. He pushed up her nightgown and licked up and down along her outer pussy lips. When he reached her clit on the way up, he blew lightly over it. Matt licked down over her slit and slightly opened her pussy lips. With the next stroke, he pushed his tongue deeper into her folds and flicked his tongue over her clit.
Rachel moaned softly and slowly moved her hips over his face. She steadied herself with a hand on the wall above the headboard of the bed.
Matt pushed his tongue deeper into her pussy and twirled his tongue inside her. He returned to her clit and first flicked his tongue around it, and then sucked on it. His tongue moved down to her pussy again and pushed into her. Rachel's moaning became louder, while she moved her hips faster over his face. Matt went back to her clit. When he sucked on it, Rachel exclaimed, "Oh yes, that's good, keep going." She pressed her hips into his face. "Yes, fuck, I'm coming," she screamed, and Matt felt her juices flowing over his face.
Rachel slid off Matt's face and down his body. She pulled down Matt's trunks, and his erect cock sprang out. She grabbed his cock and moved the tip a few times through her folds before she lowered herself and let Matt's cock slowly slide into her tight, wet pussy. "You have a nice cock, Boy Scout," she smirked.
"And I feel that my snow queen has warmed up and now has a hot, wet pussy," Matt replied.
When Matt's cock was completely inside her pussy, Rachel started to move her hips.
Matt moved up, took her into her arms, and kissed her. He got hold of her nightgown and pulled it over her head. "I don't think that you need that anymore."
Rachel pushed him down, while he cupped her tits and rolled her nipples between his thumbs and index fingers, which elicited a moan from Rachel. She kept her hands on Matt's chest and alternated between gyrating and moving her hips back and forth.
"Your cock feels so good inside my pussy," Rachel purred.
"It feels so good inside your pussy," Matt replied. "I love your tits," he continued and cupped them. Rachel lowered her body a bit so he could suck on them.
"That is good," she encouraged him while moving her hips up and down his cock.
Matt groaned and continued licking and sucking on her nipples while squeezing her tits.
"Oh, fuck, I'm coming," Rachel screamed.
Her thighs twitched, and she ground her pussy onto his cock.
"Oh, yeah, that is so fucking good," Matt grunted. He felt her pussy muscles contracting around his cock, which pushed him over the brink, and he filled her pussy with his hot cum.
Rachel collapsed into Matt's arms, and they kissed passionately. They broke the kiss, and both were gasping for air.
"My beautiful snow queen," breathed Matt into Rachel's hair.
"Mhm," Rachel snuggled into Matt's arms and closed her eyes.
***
Matt woke up the next morning and saw Rachel lying on her side, looking at him. She had propped up her head on her elbow. Matt looked directly at her firm tits.
"Good morning," she said.
"Good morning," he replied. "For how long have you been watching me sleeping?"
"For some time," she responded.
"Are you okay?" Matt wanted to know.
"Honestly, I don't know. Last night was really nice, but I'm afraid of what will happen when we leave this room," she said.
"First of all, I'm a bit disappointed that last night was only nice for you. I found it great," he said, smirking.
"But I see your point on the world outside of this room," he said, getting serious.
"I have decided that it is not a good idea to stay with you over the weekend," Rachel told him.
"Why is it not a good idea?" asked Matt.
"The whole thing between us is a bad idea, it is inappropriate and will not work," Rachel explained. "Therefore, I am leaving."
"So, you do not give us even a chance?" Matt inquired.
"We are colleagues, and our relationship should be strictly professional. Especially as a female executive, I need to protect my reputation. Unfortunately, the behavior of female executives is assessed differently compared to that of male executives. Therefore, I hope you will be discreet and not mention to anyone what happened here," Rachel begged.
"Sure, you can rely on my discretion; I will not tell anyone," Matt assured her. "I'm sorry that you think it was a mistake."
"Even though I think it was a mistake, it was still nice," Rachel admitted.
Matt moved closer to her. "I don't regret anything," he said. He caressed her arm and took her hand. He lightly kissed the back of her hand.
"What are you doing?" Rachel asked.
"Giving you a last reminder of how nice it was," he replied.
"I should go," Rachel said.
"You are free to go if you want," Matt told her before he took her index finger into his mouth and sucked on it. He continued with her other fingers before kissing over her wrist on the inside of her arm up to her armpit.
Matt kissed her lightly on the mouth. "Do you want to leave?" he asked.
"I should leave, but I don't want to. But if I stay, it must be the last time," Rachel demanded.
"On Monday, I pretend that I don't know you," Matt smirked.
"So, what do you want to remind me of?" she asked seductively.
"Kiss me, for a start," Matt said.
Rachel leaned forward, kissed him with parted lips, and poked her tongue into his mouth. Their tongues danced around each other.
"That's nice, what else?" Rachel asked.
"I should take care of your tits," Matt suggested.
Matt pushed her down, so she lay on her back. He squeezed her tits and sucked alternately her nipples. He licked around her areolas and flicked his tongue over her nipples. Rachel softly moaned.
"It's getting better," Rachel purred. "What's next?"
"I should check on your pussy," Matt said.
"That also sounds good," Rachel replied. "Lick my pussy good."
Matt moved between her legs, licked through her folds up to her clit, and flicked his tongue around it. Rachel moaned softly when he sucked on her clit.
Matt alternately licked and nibbled at her pussy lips before he pushed his tongue into her pussy. Rachel moaned while Matt fucked her pussy with his tongue.
Matt reached up with one hand and squeezed one of her tits and twisted her nipple while taking her clit in his mouth and sucking on it.
He pushed two fingers of his other hand into her pussy and fucked her with his fingers.
"Yes, that's it," Rachel exclaimed and pushed her hips into his face. Matt felt her juices flowing over his face.
When she had caught her breath, she asked, "That was nice. Anything else you want me to remember?"
"You should check out my hard cock, which is very eager to get into your wet pussy," Matt replied.
"Is it, indeed?" she chuckled and grabbed Matt's erect cock. "Well, in this case, I will check it out," Rachel said and guided his cock to her pussy. She moved it a few times through her wet folds before she let it slide into her pussy.
"That feels indeed good," Rachel purred, slowly gyrating her hips.
Matt started to slowly fuck her pussy and leaned forward to kiss her on the mouth.
Rachel wriggled under him, and Matt let her roll them to the side until Rachel was on top.
She moved her hips back and forth and leaned forward.
Matt took the cue to take her tits into his mouth and suck on her nipples while he squeezed the tit that he did not have in his mouth.
Rachel gasped and moved her hips up and down Matt's cock.
Matt moved up and pushed Rachel onto her back. He grabbed her hips and thrust his cock into Rachel's wet pussy with increasing speed. Rachel's breathing became faster as she exclaimed, "Yes, fuck me hard, yes, keep going, I'm coming!"
Matt felt that he was close and continued to pound Rachel's pussy until he came hard and filled her pussy with his cum.
He collapsed onto Rachel, and they lay for some minutes, gasping for breath.
"Thanks for the show, Boy Scout," Rachel smirked when she had recovered.
"My pleasure," he replied.
***
Rachel got up, picked up her nightgown, and put on her bathrobe. In a serious tone, she said, "I will leave now. Don't forget what you promised me. Don't tell anyone!"
"I promise not to talk about anything that happened here, and I will not do anything stupid unless you want it," he said, the last past with a smirk.
Rachel grunted and walked to the door, where she turned and smiled, "See you on Monday, Boy Scout."
